Stroller baskets

This is why I love my stroller (baby jogger city select): I walked to trader joe's and bought one hundred dollars worth of groceries (that's hard to do at TJ's, everything's like a dollar ninety nine, it takes a little bit of effort) and was able to fit it all in my under stroller basket. That's three extra-large and overstuffed, and of course reusable, bags of groceries! I challenge another stroller to do that.

Also, please note Scarlett's latest trick of blowing kisses. Can you even handle the cuteness?!

good news updates

numero uno: Scarlett is doing much much better. thank you all for your sweet and caring words, comments, text, thoughts. unfortch, the first eye drops prescribed actually made her eyes WORSE. potential allergic reaction? unclear, but after a second trip to the pediatrician we got the right eye-drops and she is dramatically better. as in can take her out in public again, not only because she is no longer contagious, but also because she no longer looks like a neglected red-headed step-child.

dos: savvy in san francisco recommended these alternatives to the unavailable and neiman's only leopard print toms. perhaps i will buy them immediately.

y finalmente, numero tres: daddydave has worked his computer magic once again and recovered about 75% of the tens of thousands of photos i may or may not have been responsible for deleting. now i just need to go through the process of organizing them, because they are no longer auto-sorted by date. small price to pay to ensure i have pulitzer prize winning memories like this one forever and ever...

broken

how did i manage to ruin ALL THREE of my apple products in less than one weeks time?

last tuesday: dropped iphone within two hours of removing the screen protector (because the corner was peeling off and i'm a picker and i couldn't help pulling the whole thing). now my screen is a shattered spider web. still works perfectly if you can avoid chards of glass. apparently they can fix just the glass screen, but it's almost as expensivo as a new phone, so right now i am just avoiding chards of glass.

on saturday: recovering from working all friday night, i had scarlett in bed with me at 3 in the afternoon when i woe up. she was playing with, you guessed it, my ipad. i heard some banging but thought nothing of it a) because she's done that with no harm before, and b) think about how functional you would be waking up at 3 in the morning. then later saturday night i go to use it and the bottom two thirds of the screen are all squiggly colored lines. haven't even researched yet if its fixable, but assume its a goner.

and finally, the worst of the bunch, sunday: remember how i said i couldn't upload more pics to my comp because there was no room. so i tried to delete some unneeded files from the hard drive. my macbook pro is actually david's old one, so when i came across a folder called "david," i thought nothing of moving it to the trash. i knew that he had copied all his work files to his new computer and had them backed up so deleting this folder would free up tons of space on the computer for me. after pressing "empty trash" and feeling so proud of myself for a minute or two as i watched the free space on the hard drive increase, i finally told david what i was doing. MAGGIE! STOP! the hard drive is named "david!" you are deleting everything on the computer!!!

next, i spent the better part of an hour yelling at my husband that it was obviously his fault this happened because he didn't help me in the first place when he knows how much i hate computers!! then, i'm pretty sure i started crying.

after that was through, david tried to recover as much of the deleted items as possible. by the end of sunday night, it appeared as if everything in iphoto (all i really care about) was restored. sigh of relief.

well, now i actually just tried to go into iphoto to pick some pics for the blog and all i get is a big fat pixelated exclamation mark when i try to open a photo. my life in pictures erased!!

surely you have everything backed up, right mammamags?
the long answer is: no.

currently, i am blogging about this nightmare as computer whiz daddydave is researching a solution. will keep you updated.

leopard print toms

i spotted these today on a woman in starbucks...

oh my. i want!

after staring at her shoes with a little bit of drool hanging down my chin for upwards of ten minutes, i finally stopped being a creep and just asked her.

um...excuse me? where did you get your leopard print toms?

neimans. only at neimans.

eh. of course. i'm pretty sure she looked me up and down with a little bit of disgust while replying too. this city can be so snotty sometimes. what? i don't look good after being up all night with a sick baby while i chug a latte waiting for her prescription to be ready across the street? my plain red toms bought from nordstroms aren't good enough? or are you making that face because my normally adorable baby now looks like someone has been repeatedly pinching her eyeballs. or worse yet, Scarlett actually looks like she just went through an emotional break-up and has been crying for two days straight. c'mon ladies, you know that look. poor baby, saddest eyes ever. can i buy large black sunglasses for my 11 month old? is she too young for intensive eye cream?

time to get out of here! leopard print toms lady wasn't the only one giving me weird looks taking my baby out in public like that.

quickly, we were back home safe and quarantined.

i immediately, well, not immediately. first i gave some tlc and rx eye drops to the sick babe. but once she was down for a nap, i immediately went to neimanmarcus.com with excitement as i searched for leopard print toms. obviously i was going to buy them! despite the fear that they would be overpriced, i rationalized to myself that i needed a new pair of toms anyways, and i had been looking for a new pair of leopard print flats since my old ones were worn out, so, boom! two birds! worth whatever they would...what?

where are they? why can't i find them? plenty of other toms at neimans, but no leopard print. quickly do a large google search, and yes! there they are on shopstyle.com. but why is it just taking me back to neimans website? ok, that's ok, i think i've found them. yes! here they are...

where i read the sad sad words:
SOLD OUT!!

crushed.

well, i'm not giving up just yet. i will continue to search and hope that neimans will come out with another supply. if you have any leads, digame immediamente!!

in the meantime, they have baby toms. so i guess i'll just have to buy some for baby S instead.

Solo, without daddydave.

And it's 6 in the morning too.

All things considered, we are doing pretty well.

waiting patiently

I know you've all been waiting patiently asking yourself repeatedly every morning, "why hasn't mamma mags posted Europe pictures yet?"

well, there has been some technical difficulties uploading from camera to computer. As in there is no space on my computer for more pictures because there are like 100,000 of Scarlett already. Whoops.

While I'm cleaning up the hard drive, and still adjusting from jet lag plus working night shifts for the first time in two years, here are a few pics to hopefully satisfy your blog reading.

1. Ferry ride in Luzern, Switzerland. Huge gorgeous lake surrounded by huge gorgeous swiss alps.

2. Playing in Vondol Park in Amsterdam after tour of the Rijks museum (behind) which is full of dutch masters' paintings and delft pottery.

3. Enjoying one of the many outdoor cafes along the canals in Amsterdam. Drinking an Amstel beer on the River Amstel.

Danka!!
